(ps... my server - well somebody else's server, that they charge me to use - has been down all day... )

And the rain rain rain came down down down in rushing rising riv'lettes...

It's cold. Brrr kind of cold.
This whole... working out-of-the-house thing... it gets old fast.
I enjoy the concept of the work... the people I meet... the accomplishments.
But I would much rather work in my pj pants with fuzzy slippers.
Seriously.

planning
~ sitting on the beach... watching the waves roll in ... washing against the sand...
~ waking up late... and needing to peeeeeeeeeeee... GAH!!!
~ zooming through the "get up and go" rituals with the boys and get myself off to work...
~ there's something marginally depressing about walking through the rain across a parking lot towards a government building.
~ home from work to see someone who may buy a set of snow tires from us (local "for sale" web site stuff...)
~ quick dinner and a homeowners association meeting at 7:30...
~ big brother later... and definitely watching Weeds when the night gets long-in-the-tooth.
wishing
~ to remind my little sugar-T (tonya) ... that it will grow. :D
~ and that jaggedpill gets her pint...

Birthday moments...
Happy birthday to an enigma in my life... bardiva... May this next year hold you with loving hands... and give ample opportunity to celebrate wonderful moments with friends.

Steve Harper (Conservative) versus Stephan Dion (Liberal)
This is the Canadian Federal Erection.
The NDP and the Greens... only dilute the vote on the left and do nothing to the vote on the right.
This is the reason that there will not soon be a majority win for anyone save the Conservative Party of Canada.
My hope remains that there will be yet another minority government, even though it's going to cost me (taxpayers) hundreds of millions of dollars that I would rather they spent on social programs...
I place great stock in the potential for minority leadership - watching the players jerk each other around trying to find consensus.
Sadly... I have to watch Dion propose that he will "ban the assault riffles used to kill students at Dawson College"... and think to myself "you twit".
I'm going to end up voting for his party... because the alternative is just horrible (and sadly, what we will likely get)... but that guy is going to waste a shit load of money on the gun thing... and not one thing will come of it. A. You only going to ban one? What about the other gazillion? B. What's an assault riffle? Sorry but that's a huge subject. C. Oh, and of course you're going to have to grandfather in all existing legally mfg'd and sold assault riffles. SO WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT?

//
Recently overheard: Walking past an open managers office... heading to a printer-kiosk to pick up a print-job... three womens voices, raised... all authority figures... "That's what we need... another dumb ass man..." [general laughter] "yeah... another dumb ass man."
~ another subtle reminder that it's a womans world and men are merely players on their stage.
LOL
No seriously though, I guess it's a negative thing that the very first thing I thought of was how totally dead I would be if somebody heard me saying "dumb ass woman" in that setting...

Have I offended you?
Clearly I have.
What is less clear... is that I am at a loss as to how to respond.
Knowing me, as so many of you have... for so many years... you must at least passingly be aware that I do not make a habit of doing that (offending you).
I respect the rights of all to believe as they wish... to see the world as it suits them.
Yet in equal proportions rests my utter disdain for the ridiculous.
And so I remind you... those that are offended... that wrapping your beliefs up in a blanket of "community comfort" does not cover up the evil that man does.
More specifically, that the men who lead these organized religions.
And if you feel picked on because I'm calling your beliefs ridiculous... you have to deal.
Do you have any clue just how much a non-believer has to deal with in this religiously framed version of our society?
And...
If the KKK sponsors a bunch of kids to attend summer camp... builds a wing on the local hospital... puts a playground in the back of the community center...
They are still the KKK.
And I firmly and fully believe that organized religion is no better and no less bigoted than the grand wizard and all his little helpers.
No that doesn't mean that all his followers are the same... some just go because it's a nice way to get to know their creepy neighbors.
I do not have to look far to see the hurt that organized religion causes every single day... let alone the terror that is caused in religion's name.
And so I speak of it and call it out and invite critical response.
That these words bite into the heart of you and your beliefs... is a challenge only you can address.

~ oh look... I gotta go strike up the bbq. :D

Later. :D
