Good morning... :)
Here in Canada... we celebrate "Thanksgiving" by taking Monday off work and ... for many people, feasting away like mad with friends and family on Sunday night. :)
Essentially, the holiday is this moment of homage we pay to in thanks for the well tilled, planted and maintained fields we took from the local indian populations after we killed them all with various, and intentionally spread diseases and pointless "gun versus spear" battles, ever-so-long ago when ol'whitie discovered and settled the inhabited and prosperous lands in North America.
So I think the background is a bit pathetic... however, such is often the case when we dig into the roots of "traditions".
What's really important... is how traditions have a way of bringing out the generous although often quiet little bits of our collective personality. Donations to food banks and shelters spike up at Thanksgiving and ... anything we do to bring our families together to share space and a meal ... is a good thing in my books... so,....
Happy Thanksgiving.
It is a beautiful ... beautiful day in the neighborhood.
The sun is shining...second day in a row... and the air is crisp, yet warm and very Fall like.
It's wonderful.
Yesterday was all about my brother-in-law's wedding. He and my newest SIL have been together for years but decided it was time, so we attended a very informal but traditional baptist wedding ceremony, gathered for family photos... and celebrated the day with a stunningly good meal at a lovely local restaurant. Suz and I "contributed" our efforts to be the picture-takers for the wedding... and I - of course - got into it. :)
I had one video camera steady-cam'ing the ceremony and another moving hand-held through the day. We filled a couple of big digital cards with images.
Now I am all keen to set about printing, making a dvd of the movie bits and ... maybe putting a LuLu book together for them. :D
Time will tell how much of that gets done. :)

There is a certain Zen to ... riding a lawn tractor and cutting a big lawn.
This was so often done in my early days... when I was in highschool.
We had about a half acre of grass to cut and this little yellow ride-em lawn mower.
I would hop on and ride... doing a zamboni thing with big long lawn circles.
The whole time would be populated with reflective thought... idle thinking perhaps,
but overall... a calming process. The noise of the engine drowning out everything but
your thoughts... and the fresh scents of cut grass and mother nature sneaking about.
It all conspired to make for good "think think think" time.
Well... I cut the lawn with our new tractor yesterday...(first time) and a little of it today.
Only the big flat parts... the hills and slopes have to be done with a hand-push mower until the grass is well integrated with the soil, or the weight of the tractor would pull and push it around. (sod!!)
It was kinda nice... I honestly felt the weighty things on my mind... slip away and be replaced by good goofy thinking-time. :)

I can make you immortal.
A conscious decision to love you...
With a nice, friendly and simple kind of love.
Followed up with a dash of concern for your happiness.
And dressed beautifully with small moments of sharing kindness...
Ensuring, without any doubt, that there will forever and always...
Be a place in my heart where you will live ... and be remembered.
K... time to go.
Have a lovely day. :)
