Yo!!! It's sunny and ... well, lovely !!! It's not hot by any stretch but I'm sure people at big near by ski resorts are skiing in tshirts and wind breakers... (sigh... I wish).
I'm so bummed that this year slipped past with almost no skiing... save for the days the boys had lessons... but ... this is a strange year. The house building stuff ... is totally occupying us. (big surprise). We can ski next year!! But we wont likely be building a house again any time soon. :)
I went to the Airport to pick up my folks yesterday...
Home safe and sound from their journey through Florida...
We went to the "house" yesterday (hence yesterdays house post) and picked (re-picked) the kitchen flooring. Ixney'ed on the ceramic tile and selected a very similar colour of a porcelain tile. (chip a ceramic tile... you see white. chip a porcelain tile... nadda... colour all the way through).

I have to say... and I'm sure this is one of those things that makes people wonder why the good lord (if there is such a thing) hasn't reduced me to a smoldering bit of ash but ... I'm really not all that impressed with the big Hostage Rescue in Iraq. The two Canadians, and the Brit... rescued by joint military forces... from whatever nut bar faction in Iraq had grabbed them... and had also executed the American.
I mean... sure, it's wonderful that these men are safe and their families can once again hold them.
Now... what if some of those "joint military forces" had bought it while rescuing them? They didn't ... but that was just very very good fortune. But if they had... how would their families feel? What makes it ok for the "Christian Peace Makers" to be putting themselves at retarded risk daily in Iraq and therefore require the armed forces to mount VERY EXPENSIVE rescue missions to pull their sorry asses out of the fire? How much red tape, national angst, pain and emotional suffering, cost and headache are we all supposed to just put up with because these people figure their mission in life is to go to Iraq and bring wonderful happy joy joy to everyone.
Iraq is a total nightmare... and if you want to go and put yourself in harms way ... fine.
But, personally... you run your risks and you suffer the consequences.

Afghanistan... true story... you prol'y heard about it... Muslim dude is "caught" reading bible stories... and is assumed to have abandoned Islam and adopting Christianity. The LAW in Afghanistan calls for THE DEATH PENALTY for behaviour like this...
Yessiree... and our soldiers are DYING in Afghanistan to protect this way of life.
What a fucking joke.
