~ [ :: irFanView :: ] very free, very good application for handling image files. Good for batch conversions and thumbnailing. Likely good for other things but the big draw for me is the ease with which you can do the batch stuff.
~ Went to Winners on the way home from work. Before christmas, we had a shopping excursion to Winners - when I got the new p-z jeans that I love so much - that included Z handing me a "desk set" and saying "This would be a nice christmas gift for me... " :D So we bought that, had christmas and then ... after a bit... Z asked... "so where's my desk set?" gah!!! Couldn't find it anywhere. Ultimate conclusion was that we left it at Winners when we packed out purchases. Soooooooo... I stopped in there tonight (a month later) with my receipt and asked if they had a bin of stuff that fooling shoppers left behind. They did have such a bin and there was no desk-set in it. :(
But they still had it on the shelves. They also had a kicken Playmobil Castle (the big Playmobil box'o'fun) and it's Ed's birthday this weekend. So I came to the cash with both. I explained to the manager that was working the cash... about the desk set...and asked if the Playmobil thing was on sale.
Not only did she totally comp me the desk-set... she repriced the toy with a 30% discount!
Score!
~ Remember that "Gregorian Knot" thing my da needed a pic of to carve for a competition at the "carving club"?? The one that turned out to be a "gordian knot"... Ok, I'll have pics of these things soon for his web site... but first of all... he carved several of the gordian knots. Holy flip chart man... I mean, a solid piece of wood, carved into a thrice twisted mobius strip! And (AND!!) the knot turned out to, in fact, be a Celtic Knot that he needed to do... and he did. Wicked cool carving of what I'm used to seeing as a tatt on peoples backs. :) I'll show pics when I have 'em.
~ k... s'all I got and the admiral is calling. :)
