K, so it gets kinda coooool at night, now that it's October. However, we're having this great weather that translates into 26 degree temps. (totally gorgeous). The problem is that it's hard to dress the kids in clothes that work for the trip to school and don't get a) left behind or b) make them too hot all day. Sadly, this becomes a "moo point" tomorrow as rain and cooler temps are in the offing.
(Joey, friends... "moo point"... one of my fav "Joey'isms")
I'm giving FireFox a shot for a while. I like Opera but ... it seems to have some issues... memory chewing, or not displaying pages properly and freezing up on some java stuff. So we'll see how the fox does. :)

Clarity... and maybe a veiled apology.
I believe a well trained and well equipped national guard, a Federal Bureau of Investigation and an army of properly trained police officers is a far cry better than anything the Armed Forces have to offer when it comes to setting POLICE actions on home turf. "Call out the army" is the cry of a governor... "deploy the army" should not be the cry of the president... when he's (she's) talking about home turf. More importantly... The Bush administration has used national calamity as an excuse to enact legislation that undermines the basic securities (privacy, civil rights, etc) of the american people. Just look at the ridiculous mess that is The Office Of Homeland Security. What a joke... and what a breach of the faith that should exist between a people and their government. Bush's attempt to get the power to deploy the Armed Forces as Police on US soil... is - in my opinion - another attempt to gather to his office powers that should not be there.
Yesterday I made this point poorly and drew out the specter of the Private England dog leash thing talking about the Army running jails and made a comment about the armed forces work in Iraq. I regret the dog leash bit... because that was really off-message to my point and focused attention on a small and really stupid issue. (in my personal opinion, there is no way average people can have a well informed opinion on that situation... we have no idea what things were (are) like for those soldiers). The issue with Iraq and the Army... is real but ... sadly gets taken off-message as well... The army's work in Iraq is dumb ass and wasteful in the extreme and should end asap. They - the Army - make a lousy police force in Iraq and they'll make a bad one in the States too... because ... they are not police. Army / Police... totally different concepts.
So... this is me trying to be contrite and get all sheepish about slagging the US armed forces... those men and women deserve more respect. Their leaders deserve to be slathered in honey and left in the desert for the ants... but the soldiers... are just doing their thing.
Peter McKay... now and forever famous in Canada as the HUGE DRIPPY WET PANTY THAT WAS CRYING ON NATIONAL TV IN HIS HIP WADERS after his then girlfriend, Belinda Stronock (sp?) decided to leave the moronic Conservative party and joined the Liberals. Camera crews found McKay, Conservative Party President (or some rot like that) on his? farm wearing his "I'm a real farmer" clothes and asked him about the surprise move by Belinda. He blubbers and whines and honestly... was remarkably embarrassing. Any hoo... he was on the news last night, letting Canada know that he has turned down the opportunity to lead the conservative party in a maritime province. "I have more work to do for Canada where I am..." And all I could think was "what? crying more and continuing to sail on a sinking ship?"
Canada's Conservative Party is nothing but a mess and is lead by retards... (and that's prol'y an insult to people actually suffering from retardation). I renew my call for the Liberal Party to join forces with the NDP and form the Liberal Democratic Party of Canada (LDPC). On their own, the NDP present a non-option and the Liberal party has a lot of "bunch of crooks" history to escape... but together... they would offer Canadians the first real choice they've had in decades!!
SO THEY PLAYED HOCKEY LAST NIGHT. Of course, I was all thinking it was home ice... but that's not till (I think, Monday). Nope, last night was in Toronto, against the Leafs and the Sens won in a shoot out. Apparently it was very exciting... beating them in front of their home fans. You should see the degree to which the local media tries to play up the adversarial relationship between the Sens and the Leafs. I'm surprised that, in this day and age, so much effort is put into this... I'm serious... the slogans and signs are rather in-your-face with stuff like "Kick their Asses" "Leafs Suck" and that's just the nice stuff.
I mean, we all know that the leafs are mostly a bunch of roid-rage-knuckle-dragging meat slabs or pretty boys that should have bright pink uniforms, but do we have to have such a negative rivalry about it? What is there to gain, really... from making fun of the low IQs and poor player performance on the Leafs team? You'd think reasonable people would cut them a little slack and hope for everyone to enjoy a good game of hockey. Lord knows they need some sympathy with that coach... but I suppose sports fans are just like that... never really willing to let the obvious underdogs have a bit of a leg up. Oh well...
