So... before I went to bed, at like 1:30... I popped back to the kitchen, prepped the coffee maker and set the coffee-maker-timer for 6:45. Then I set the "buzzer" on the radio in the bedroom for 6:55, and the "radio" for 7:00. So... when I woke up to the horrible, evil ... neerrrrt neerrrt neerrrrrrrt of the buzzer alarm... I got up... climbed over the kids that join us in their sleep over the course of the night... lurched to the kitchen... got a coffee and came back to the bedroom. After a moment of relief, I sat on this antique bench in the bedroom, under the window (East facing!!!) and listened to the 7:00 news on CBC with my coffee... watching Geo, Edward and Suz sleeping away.
Just say'en... it was a magnificent way to climb towards wakefulness... :)

The boys start week one of Summer day camp today. They are both in Camps Canada camp... Ed has "craft camp" every morning, Geo has "Learn to ride a horse" camp every morning and then it's a "sports camp" all afternoon. Oh man are they gonna be tired... haha... :D :D :D

// I flicked on the top 40 radio station yesterday in the car and they had the west-coast countdown thing on and they had the Peas in number 4 with don't funk with my heart... and when they played it... THEY CHANGED "FUNK" TO "MESS"... So... "no no no no ... don't mess with my heart". How flipping pathetic is that... Geezus...

/ So, work with me on this... because I think this is important... you may not... but then again, this is my journal... haha... :D
How much security are you willing to allow the government to enact around you in your life before you say "enough!!"???
Is waging war with Jihadists on the far side of the globe worth it? Does western influence in the Taliban Theocracy's of The Land Of Sand matter that much to you? Really? Is the assurance of human rights (as defined by Western cultures) to Iraqis, Afghanis, South Asians, Russians, etc... through the force of American Might, so important to you ... that you would be willing to allow America to become a Military State?
~ Automatic Weapons, Army Uniforms on every street corner...
~ random package searches...
~ physical search (and the inherent delays) for boarding a local transit bus?
~ Automatic weapons... that hum with their electronic coolness, in every store in a shopping mall?
~ Hours of delay at all inter-state boarder crossings?
~ the loss of personal freedoms... expression, privacy, assembly...
What? you don't think it will happen?
If six subway cars blew up in six different cities in America tomorrow... you can bet your sweet ass that things would change. Bank on it. America would have shit attack and god forgive the way Islamic Americans would be treated...

All because it is somehow perceived that American influence across the middle east is worth protecting?
The men and women that have become "Terrorists" that threaten western cultures... western cities... western freedoms... are fighting for a reason. Even though the current fiasco that is the "War on Terror" seems to fly in the face of anything happening "for a reason"... you have to understand that ... FOR EXAMPLE ... Saddam Hussain was originally put in power, funded and his troops trained by the United States... Same with the Shaw in Iran... and those are just low-hanging-fruit examples. American "influence" has been going on for a long time and is at the root of many of the things that so-called terrorists are on a big ass bitch fest about. I'm not (no really) saying anything good about the terrorists... they are a bunch of complete whack cases... mentally incapacitated by their religious zeal and "ready to die" nut jobs... But it's not like they just grew on trees or decided that the West was a worthy target because they ran out of breakfast cereal. There is undeniable history here.

So the question remains... how much freedom are you willing to part with so the current administration of the United States can try and grind away the things that make people different in different parts of the world until they have a) control of all the oil, and b) turned everyone into good little christian consumers of american made goods?

The terrorists are crazy fuckers... and therefore... they will never be stopped. You cannot fight against an endless supply of insanity with bullets. They are already considering the possibility that the London bombings were orchestrated by people that held authentic british passports. Does Georgie-poopy-head think those people were going to pack up their shit and go to the desert to get shot by the Storm Troopers?

Are there people like that in America?
You bet... in fact... you are betting your ass and your arms and your legs... right now.
And you cannot find them or protect against them without giving up the freedom that America enjoys today.

You cannot possibly end the threat of terrorism without killing every human being on the planet outside of your own backyard... and even then, you have no idea who came over for the bar-b-q!!!

But maybe you can get the government to stop fucking with everybody on the planet and trying to install Western value systems at every turn. It doesn't matter if American troops are digging wells in northern Iraq. They should be digging wells for Americans who are without water at home.
Stop trying to remake the world!

Do you care so much that women in Afghanistan are treated equally in the eyes of their religious government and court system that you are willing to give up your freedom to protect them? Really? Why? Who fucking cares if Israelis want to build a wall and therefore convince a hoard of Palestinians that they need to become tunnel builders? If they all kill one another... is that really our problem?

I mean... I can see the academic value in participating in a globalized policy of interdependent trade and resourcing... however when doing that means we all have to give up our freedom and watch one another get blown up... I have to ask "Why do you really give a shit about (insert name of middle eastern country here)?"

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
