So we all headed to the Airport last night... (they came in around 7:30 pm). My sis came with, and my bro - and assorted family members, so we were all at the airport waiting... and waiting... and waiting... Apparently, they had had to unpack and repack one of their bags at Heathrow to get a very heavy persian rug they were bringing back out and into it's own bag. Then the airline lost it. Lovely. So they expect that it went to Toronto and will be finding it's way home in the next couple of days... but there was plenty of paper work.
All is well and their stories will be legion... I'm looking forward to the pictures ... and video... like mad... The cave temples in Jordan, the architecture in Dubai, the Pyramids next to the corner store in Cairo... oh man, I am sooooo jealous. However, from what they've said so far... I'm not all that jealous of the QE2 exp. It sounds like a ship of the almost dead, cruising the high seas with snootyness, obnoxious old farts and turn of the century values. Not exactly a "fun ship" by my standards. :)
It's a sunday and that translates into waking up early and going at an almost break neck pace all day long... wish me luck. :)

// So the official mourning period is over for the dead guy with the big hat. I have to say... the world is a very interesting place and the people on it ... remarkably interesting. Chief among their "interesting" features... ??? The innate human ability to believe something ... just because someone tells you to. And I'm not talking about articles of faith. I mean, tempting as it is to go off on the whole catholicism versus fairy tales thing (same deal, just one actually includes death and destruction to drive home the big points), I'm talking more about how everybody credits the dead guy with being "the pope that brought peace...". Um... now ... seriously... WHERE? What peace did this guy bring? He blew a lot (and I mean a huge-lot) of cash on the Youth conferences... but personally, I'm never going to be down with a bunch of catholic priests looking after a bunch of kids (sorry, that's their fault - the church... and the pope...could have done a lot more to deal with that problem), and he fostered dissent, mistrust, and downright social chaos around the world by asking catholics born after 1960 to join him on his quest to get back to the early 1900s... and let his flock try and ram that morality down everyone elses throats. I realize he was a, or the, "good pope"... but that's a sliding scale... he was good, as far as popes go, and he didn't burn anyone alive ... but the edicts... the policies... flowing from his papacy did little to stem the tide of disease, famine, and war that eats at the fabric of the third world. The next pope? yeah... not holding my breath.

Ug... it's 10:39... I gotta git!!
