Intangible rewards, mortal and eternal
punishments, and control exerted over
every aspect of the devotee's life.
Lovely.
The god concept, invented in the minds
of man, served a very clear purpose in
providing a focus for the support and
guidance a society still wet behind it's
collective ears... so obviously needed.
Now, however, it is relegated to the dubious
role of defending self righteous beliefs, pious
attitudes, and condemning those among
us that do not toe the godly line.
