M: Good evening, Magma communications, residential support. How can I help you?
Corto: Yeah, you called to say my open ticket had an update. My username is corto.
M: one moment sir...
tick tick tick...
M: Yes... residential accounts have a 1 gig per month bandwidth limitation on the magma servers...
C: And...
M: you are exceeding that...
C: No I'm not.
M: Yes you are.
C: You're wrong. Check again.
tick tick tick tick...
M: well there's something strange here...
C: Yes there is. I'm looking at the magma "user stats page" and it says I have used 93 megs so far this month on my upstream transfer.
My domain, hosted on the server in my basements references 112 static graphic images stored on your server and they are all exceptionally small jpg and gif files. My account bandwidth is 4 gigs per month and I have, over the last 24 months, never exceeded that. And the 1 gig per month off your server??? How do you figure 93 megs is the same as 1000 megs?
M: I'm not certain sir... Can you hold.
C: Sure.
tick tick tick...
M: Well there's definately something wrong sir...
C: absolutely. I called you two days ago about this. I called you again yesterday. Both days you said you would resolve the issue. Today I had to call you again and you resolved it today by saying it's my fault. Now it's almost 8:00 at night, on the eve of a long weekend and my space on your host is toast.
C: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
M: well I'm going to check with the UNIX team and see what they say...
C: And you will call me back on this?
M: Yes...
C: When?
M: As soon as I can...
C: Dude... I pay for a static address and I have been a steady customer since you guys got the ball rolling. I'm just say'en... You have competition in this city. I want that call soon!
M: Yes sir...
C: Have a nice night ... I'll wait for your call.
M: Yes sir... goodbye sir...
C: night...

Geezus fuck. All the little static graphics on my web site (http://www.corto.ca/corto) are hosted on my service providers web site because they load so much faster from there... grrrrrrr!
