Sunday, October 16

~ yeah, me a buggs... just chill'en on a frosty, windy sunday morning.

Yesterday was a total new-house-stuff day. We met with the builders again to sort our some changes to the floor plans and get more costs sorted. It's hard to describe the incredible high I leave those sessions with. I'm about as excited as it's possible to get... and the house is still a year away.
We took the kids with... letting them play at the park in the neighborhood and then running around one of the builders models while we reviewed things.
This is a big step... starting to let them in on the deal. Not completely but... opening the ideas up.
We did that... and when we stepped outside ... we were greeted with this gorgeous double rainbow.
Pictures don't do it justice.

~ we took that as a good sign. :)

Dear Mr. President Poopie Head:
It will all come back to you little george. The fakery, the foolishness, the incompetence and the manufactured wars that line the pockets of corporations that will never be held accountable. History will be your greatest enemy and you will never be forgiven.

wohoooo 53% of Iraquis voted ...
Let me say this... When I was in college, I was involved in student politics and we held these elections for the Student Union board positions. The nature of the voting process was the stuff of annual debate. There was this one year when we debated "mandatory voting". This may, in some cases, be a grand idea but it demands that there is a knowledgeable electorate and a significant process of communicating ideas and information from the parties and candidates outwards. It would never fly in a college setting... mostly because the 10 - 30 % that vote... care... and the rest... simply don't. The votes of those that do not care or understand do nothing but damage the outcome of an election.
While voting was not mandatory in Iraq, the turn out reflects the novelty of the opportunity to vote... but sadly... they (well, most of them) have no flipping idea what they were voting for... It was - for the record - a vote to support or reject a proposed constitution and it was THICK and complicated and filled with vacuous religious platitudes that mean almost nothing except, perhaps, that they will all argue about interpretations for a long long time.
The only people that truly wanted this vote to go down... so quickly and with such an ill informed electorate... was the Bush Administration.

I really need to shower. :)

(no subject)

ok... all the bathrooms are wicked clean...
time to (sigh) try to take my car dash and door apart and find out why Mr. Right Speaker refuses to work.
I have - as yet - never taken a dash board apart. Taking a door apart... eh...
Not all together difficult... it's the "putting back together" part that usually gets me.

fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way

The moments that make up a dull day...

~ how you handle today's business... has a lot to do with how tomorrows will be.
"Yes... can we help you?"
"Well... not certain." Placing bag of ground Verona coffee on the counter.
"you see... my darling wife zoomed through earlier this week and had you grind some coffee for her."
"... and?"
"yes... well, in her haste, she grabbed the decafinated variety."
"ah... and you wanted the regular?"
"no problem..." grabbing a bag of regular verona... "flat bottom basket?"
"yes... and thank you."
"do you know anyone who drinks decaf?"
"er... "
"why don't you take both..." pushing the first bag back... "and may we get you a coffee? on us... "
(sigh. :D starbucks... goooooood)

~ stuffed with love
Edwards build-a-bear, stuffed by his hand, including several wee hearts, is quite a hit
(at bed time)
"DAD! NO!"
"but Ed... He doesn't mind if I talk to him..."
"NO! He doesn't listen to anyone but me."
"well... he and I talk when you're not here..."
"!!! Yeah? well lets ask him!"
turns to bear... nose to nose...
"well... do you?"
pause... bear nose to Ed's ear...
"HA! He does not..."

~ Zen and the Art of Automobile Repair
If you car exhaust is a bit throaty... If your clutch cable makes a squeak...
If there's an unexplained tinkling sound from back there...
It's far more cost efficient... to put in a good stereo.

Zoom to futurshop... buy cool laptop mouse for mom.
Look at car speakers... finally get a sales assist... point at affordable speakers...
"nope... we don't have those in stock. what are you looking for"
"one of my front speakers is doa... I want to replace them."
"Make model year?"
"Honda civic, four door, 97"
"k... just sec."
game show final question music...
"ok... you want a 6 1/2 inch ... we have these..."
"k.. you're out of the 49 - 79$ variety but only have loads of the 99 and up?"
"k... I'll look around."
Wallmart... buy 6 1/2 jensens... 59$... try to install... and they don't fit. curses!
return... buy 5 1/4 jensens... 49$... Then go to dinner at moms house with family.
Home again... dark and windy... try to install. They fit! except ... wait... four holes to mount on speaker, and three holes on car. sigh.
Read packaging and instructions. They list every fricking honda ever... except the 96-98 four door civics as compatible. more curses.
So for an encore... I get up with the tools and shut the door, and put stuff away in the garage...
Return to car.
Door locked. Keys inside. Radio on (rear speakers)... Interior light on. Locked up tight.
Check watch.
Address sudden desire to converse with the Admiral.
Check watch. 5 mins down wind.
Get coat hanger.
cut, bend, wedge, find little silver "car doors unlock lever" and pull.
Open car.
Check watch... 10 mins down wind.
Five minutes to break into car.
Sad really.
I still need speakers.

Time for relaxing.
See ya.
