So we had a thing yesterday...
Look at this girl...
That is the luckiest... or maybe "most fortunate" young woman I've met in a long long long time.
(spot the suzanne in that picture... :D)
We were driving to Bayshore...
Two highways join at this one point forming a significant array of north, south, east and west exit and on ramps...
[ :: We were on an off ramp and as we rounded a corner... :: ] my eyes and brain had a struggle to compute the information they were processing.
I looked down into the gully and saw a flipped car... which I think I was assuming was an old accident.
I was wrong.
The wheels of the car were still spinning...
As I looked at the car a young woman, with a look of pure terror on her face, pressed her face against the passenger window and was pounding on it... She looked right at me.
[ :: this is a 320x240 image :: ]
[ :: same image .. 640x480 :: ]
I pulled over to the side and bolted from the car... yelling to suz about phones...
other cars were stopping and I saw someone with a cell phone already calling...
I'm telling you... I was really scared that there was going to be death waiting for me.
I got to the car and started talking to the girl...
She was alone... and unbelievably, she was unhurt... besides a nasty hand cut...
After being certain she was relatively unhurt...
I cleared out the broken back passenger side window and pulled her out of the car...
... walked her a good 30 meters away from the car, assuring her everything was going to be fine...
and sat her with other people...
Then went back to be sure she wasn't just freaked... but there was no one else in the car.
The freaking car was smushed. I don't know how she managed to not be smushed herself, but I guess her number just wasn't up.
We left when the police and ambulance were all there.
There will be dreams...
Strange how the experience left us feeling
