so i was showing the car to a coworker and noticed is has a huge scratch along the bottom of the driver's side door. it's not at all a deep scratch (my nail doesn't catch on it), but wtf?! i know it wasn't there when i was at the dealer's yesterday, unless it happened when they were detailing it (it was dark when i finally got out of there). i am hoping some polish will just take it off. my brother says i should call the dealer back, but isn't it too late?

:( :( :(

and i just got a call from the guy delivering my furniture asking for directions. "i'm on 101 north..." wtf dude, you aren't supposed to be coming until TOMORROW! three different people called to tell me that! so he's going to come tomorrow. and i LOVE the time window! - between 12:30 and 1:30! thattaboy! much better than the living room furniture, their window was between 8 and 5!

So the, huh, thing I plug the adaptor in has been pushed back into my laptop, so it's been a bit difficult to charge it, since I have to find a certain angle for the cord to be everytime I plug in the adaptor and any little touch or movement can disconnect it.
I'm taking it to a repair shop when I have the time so they can open and fix it, but in the meantime is it safe to use my laptop? Someone told me there was danger of there being a short-circuit, so I'm worried but I'd like confirmation of this.

I wasn't sure if this was the right community for this kind of question, since it isn't related to software (and so I didn't include operative system, etc information). If this is the wrong place I apologise in advance and will remove it. Either way thank you!

Ok guys.. I've got a bit of a stumper....

Last weekend, my mother and I bought some homemade pasta at the farmer's market. We got basil garlic penne, which we used to make a baked macaroni and cheese. The other one we got was basil tangerine linguine. Mom wants to use it for supper tonight, but I have no clue what to do!!

Help?!

The only stipulation is that we try to eat healthy, so no butter sauces. A creme sauce would be ok because it can be used in moderation.

thanks ahead of time!!!

Today has, so far, been nice and calm and peaceful and not-stupid and that is made of WIN and AWESOME. Tomorrow Chris and I are going out for a movie in the afternoon. Sunday we have short respite and then Lots Of Crap To Do.

Thank you, everyone, for being so nice the past few days. *loves all of you*

Edit: Because the question has come up, we're seeing In Search of A Midnight Kiss (link goes to Youtube trailer, worksafe) as part of the siff supporters thingy. It looks good.

I'm in the market for a tea pot...kettle.  Water boiler.  Mine was left (empty) on the stove and someone turned on the wrong burner.  I think the black flakes inside are a sign that I need a new one.

Anyway, I'm looking around online and can anyone explain to me why a $60 Kitchenaid kettle is any better than a $10 Revere one that looks about the same?  Is there something I should be looking for in a tea kettle that I'm not aware of?  I just want it to heat water

I can't believe my last post was on Monday. I've been reading everyones LJ and leaving comments here and there but couldn't quite seem to get a post of my own together. I think a lot of it was due to the weather. It's been rainy and oh, so humid every day. I had my A/C on constantly and that in itself with the constant white noise it produces, makes me retreat even more into my environmentally controlled cocoon. Today there is no rain and none forecast until maybe tomorrow. The sun is shining and the humidity has dropped to a much more bearable level. I don't mind the rain, but after a few days, I do miss the sunlight.

I had my monthly appointment with my primary care doctor this morning. Not much to report except that I still have that pulled muscle like pain happening in my left side. It's been over a week now and usually something like that begins to feel better. She poked me in a few tender spots and said for me to call if it doesn't get better in a few more days.

I made an appointment to take my car in Monday morning for the annual inspection and an oil change. No big deal. That was on Wednesday. Don'tcha know, I go out this morning and I notice that something has been leaking on the garage floor. Passenger side, near the back seat door. Smells like gas. But, it didn't look too bad and I had to leave so I took my chances. It left a spot when I pulled out of the parking space at the doctor. I thought about going right to the repair shop from there but being the thrill seeker that I am, I figured that I needed to get a couple of prescriptions filled so I did that instead. At this point in my life, pain meds outrule sitting in a car repair shop where I'm going to go on Monday anyway. Hey, made sense to me. heh

Sooo, I got my meds and came home. Whatever it is, it's not a gushing leak or anything and the car still runs. The fluid seems to evaporate fairly fast although it still leaves a mark. I don't have to go anywhere this weekend so it's safely in the garage til Monday. This way, if it needs to be towed or whatever, it's at home. Just no one comment that it could burst into flames or anything, k? Thx.

Still fighting the Sandman for every second of sleep I might get. I've stopped taking any sort of sleep meds at all. The drug hangover/confusion got to be too much. So now I'm getting a few hours here and there, although the time between the here and there can be pretty long.

I almost feel like I could sleep right now. Time to put my comfy clothes on anyway. I get more wear out of my jammies than my regular stuff these days. :)

Headed to Bend tomorrow morning, by way of Smith Rock, to pick up Max from his road trip. I'm going to head out of Portland late AM or around lunch and then spend the afternoon bouldering around at Smith Rock after the heat breaks and hang out for the sunset, then cruise on down to Bend. Max and the gang will be pulling in sometime in the afternoon. Until then, I'm just going to hang out and wander about downtown. Maybe I'll take my golf clubs. I haven't been to Bend in a while, and haven't been to Smith since my birthday. During my last year of college, I was there every weekend. I love the smell of juniper and sage in the heat.

I have 6 more cigars in my box. After this, I'm not buying any more.

I bought my iPhone unlocked for T-Mobile (and jailbroken) on eBay last year. So far, so good. Nothing has gone wrong, etc. Anyway! My dad bought "Hot Spot for the Home" from T-Mobile, which allows us to make free calls/texts over the WiFi network. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with 1.1.1., which is what I currently have because I don't know how to upgrade without bricking.
My dad read that 2.0 allows you to use the HotSpot at home, so he would like me to upgrade. (Can anyone confirm this?)

Question is, how do I do this? I had it done for me by the eBay seller, so I am clueless. I don't want to restore my phone and then go to 2.0, because I'll lose everything (right?). So is there an installer app that does it for you, or what should I do? Can anyone give me a step by step for dummies on how to go from 1.1.1. to 2.0 without losing the ability to have T-Mobile/without losing contacts/info from the phone?

Thanks so muchh!

Music:"Blue and Wonder" - Richard Buckner

Dr. Randy Pausch, who became a YouTube star for his "Last Lecture," died this morning. If you've not seen it, it is worth an hour of your life to view the speech. The Last Lecture series is common at a number of colleges: a professor is asked to imagine that this will be the last message he/she will deliver; what wisdom would you want to leave behind? In Pausch's case, when he was invited to give his Last Lecture, he had indeed been diagnosed with terminal pancreotic cancer. He was 47 with three children under the age of six.

The speech, and the book that resulted from it, is inspirational and human. Not at all maudlin and in no way self-pitying. He was a man who accomplished nearly all of his goals in life and never lost his sense of wonder. He faced his condition with determination and humor. A Computer Science professor specializing in virtual reality, he warned against anyone coming up to him with spiritual advice: "I've already had a death-bed conversion," he explained, "I just bought my first Mac."

Subject:What is the Surge?
Security:Public

That depends on what the definition of the word IS, is....

McCain: “First of all, a surge is really a counterinsurgency strategy, and it’s made up of a number of components. And this counterinsurgency was initiated to some degree by Colonel McFarland in Anbar province relatively on his own. When I visited with him in December of 2006, he had already initiated that strategy in Ramadi by going in and clearing and holding in certain places. That is a counterinsurgency. And he told me at that time that he believed that that strategy, which is, quote, the surge, part of the surge, would be successful. So then, of course, it was very clear that we needed additional troops in order to carry out this counterinsurgency.”

Jump on it, conservative pundits! If you hated it from Clinton, shouldn't you hate it from McCain?

Self-righteousness of convenience is tiring.

You can pick up Tom Brady's NEW YORK CONDO for a song. Value must have dropped since loosing the Stupor Bowl ... maybe Eli Manning will pick it up ... Giselle does not come with it.

The HOTW was boring so I opted for something from the rich and famous.

Maybe the rain will stop sometime soon ...

Went to the Barnstable County Fair this week ... nothing like a county fair ... demolition derbys, sheep, big bulls, short denim mini's ... a little slice of Americana. The Village People are performing tonight ... Y M C A ... think I will pass.

One of the negative side-effects of my being sick seems to be a complete loss of time orientation...I actually had to look at the calendar to figure out what day of the week this was. I feel like I've lost part of my "time off" to absolutely nothing.

My innards seem to be behaving at the moment. I still have a bit of a headache, although that may be from sleeping so much and so irregularly (two hours here, four there, one somewhere else). I also need to wander back over to the store and pick up some more liquid to put into myself, along with some kitty kibble. I'd planned on going to town today to buy a couple of things, but until I'm absolutely certain I'm over this whatever-it-was, I'm not going to attempt it. I have to make the ride Sunday...that's probably plenty early enough.

Interesting sidenote...there are signs taped to the fuel pumps at the corner store. "No gas until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience." That's going to cause a bit of a problem for the fire department; we still have one truck (the rescue) that's gasoline-driven. And the generators, the power unit for our hydraulic extrication tool, chain saws, and positive-pressure fan all take gasoline. Sounds like the commissioners have a task before them: locate an alternative source of gasoline and arrange a line of credit.

I think a shower is in order. Away with me.

*poof*

So I have naturally wavy/curly hair. It's an effort to make it look decent wavy, so I choose to straighten on a daily basis using a flat iron. My stylist has informed me that I'm killing my hair between the streaks and the flat iron. She advised me to go wavy every so often. This morning I used the diffuser and I'm letting my wavy flag fly free. Here's a picture of me from this morning and I'm hating it. It's going to be a long day.
